ESSOC Manual Appendix 3 - Personal Response Plan and Kit
When you are notified of the Emergency and placed on Standby:
Check
- Do the notification fan out (management staff)
- Are members of your family safe?
- Advise family where you're reporting to
- Advise family how to contact you
- Wear comfortable clothes and shoes
- Emergency Response Car Sign (in your vehicle)
Plan for a 12 hour shift...Store an Emergency Box at home and place as many items in it as you can before hand. Clearly label the box (a standard brown file box will do) "Emergency Survival Kit" and have it stored in a visible, accessible location, or pack a "Grab and Go Bag". (A backpack/duffel bag is the most convenient type of bag).

- Emergency Social Services Plan, Resource Plans & Checklists
- Log Sheets & Clip Board (management staff)
- Small Steno Pad/notebook
- Pen/Pencil
- Masking tape
- Flash Light & Batteries (check batteries monthly)
- Spare batteries
- Battery operated commercial radio & batteries
- Pager & Cell Phone/batteries (if available)
- Change of clothing (something comfortable)
- Snack (dried fruit, granola bars, beef jerky, candy, chocolate bars)
- Water, Bottled or canned Juices, evaporated canned milk
- Plastic Mug (preferably with a lid)
- Rain Gear
- Reading Material
- Games (playing cards)
- Fanny Pack (do not take a hand bag or purse)
- Cash
- House Keys
- Car keys
- Drivers Licence
- Identification
- Your Notification List (orange card)
- Roll of quarters
- Pocket knife
- Whistle
- Safety pins
- Personal Items
- Toothbrush & Toothpaste
- Hairbrush or Comb
- Razor/Shaver
- Elastics to keep hair pulled back
- Small bar of soap/hand towel
- Glasses/contact Lens Case & Supplies
- Medication, list of allergies
- Facial Tissues
- Sanitary supplies including toilet paper
- First Aid Kit
