ARES Response
Large scale emergencies
- Receive call from Toronto Neighbourhood and Community Services
- Start LOG.
- Monitor ARES repeater frequencies.
- Alert other ECs
- Assign net control:
- announce net
- take check-ins on response sheet
- determine a meeting place
- pencil in possible positions
- arrange VIP notification/wakeup calls if required
- perform or assign Dispatch function
- Go to ESSOC
- Recruit a radio operator for ESSOC as Command/Control station
- Recruit a radio operator for ESSOC as Voice station
- Assign radio operator to:
- Assign site managers:
- Reception/Evacuee Centres as given
- Assign radio operators for each site:
Manager functions:
- Liaise with person in charge of the site.
- Determine their radio needs.
- Place requests for radio needs on Command/Control or Talkin
- Get periodic reports from local C&C operator
- If you have a radio Listen to C&C channel only when not busy
- Listen to local simplex when busy for urgent relay messages
Command/Control Operator:
- Maintain LOG
- Listen to C&C channel constantly and pass ARES operation msgs
- Call manager on simplex only when urgent
Voice Operator:
- Maintain LOG
- Listen to Voice channel constantly and pass agency traffic
Mobile Dispatch:
- Maintain LOG
- record location/purpose of each vehicle
- handle VIP notification/wakeup calls
- give directions
- direct Paging function
