Notes:

Some vehicles are not equipped with a 12V cigarette lighter socket, and power must be obtained directly from the car battery.

Direct connect batteries include spare HT batteries, gel-cells, etc. to provide sufficient power to operate a full shift (6-10 hours).

Alternate power could include a generator, solar, pedal, etc.

Direct connect gain antenna could be a telescopic 1/2 or 5/8 wave.

Antenna structure includes antenna, cable, adaptors, and antenna mounting hardware, eg camera tripod, free standing tower or with base support and guywires.

Cable adaptors should include a mix between BNC, N-type, and PL-259.

Carrying facilities: all equipment should be able to be transported by the owner to the operating position. This may require a knapsack, or a cart for bulky or heavy items such as base stations and batteries.

Stationary should include pens, pencils, markers, blank paper, Post-It pads, ruler, preformatted log sheets and message forms, carbon paper, clipboard, and weather protection, eg. plastic cover sheet.

As radio operators, our primary function is to operate radios. If for any reason we need to abandon our duty, an alternate person must be designated to continue our task. These reasons include: breaks for washroom, food, rest, face-to-face discussions, equipment failure, and emergency first-aid you are qualified and no one else is available. NO RADIO CALL SHOULD GO UNANSWERED. Note that while on duty, we should refuse other unrelated tasks, such as cleaning up garbage, serving food, posting signs, arranging furniture, etc.
