Dear Amateur Radio Operator:

In your community there exists a Member of the Toronto Community and Neighbourhood Services Initial Emergency Response Team (IERT). As part of their task, they are to make contact with a local ham radio operator who can provide backup communications in times of real or simulated emergencies.

The duties of the Amateur Radio operator would be:

We hope that you will offer your neighbourhood Emergency Response member all the benefits of your knowledge, equipment and hospitality that ham radio has become famous for, and that you will participate in Toronto ARES training and exercises.

The Toronto ARES simplex frequency is 146.460. A full rollcall net is held most evenings at 6pm on the ARES repeater on 145.130-. A weekly ARES net is held on repeater VE3TWR (145.41- and 444.4+) Monday evenings at 6:45pm. Members may also be found on the ARES link network 444.850 Toronto Central; 442.800 Toronto West; 442.375 Toronto North; 443.750 Toronto East; and 442.075 Goodwood or 442.825 Georgetown.
